Harry's Album - 12th May 2017

Rolling Stone Magazine:
“One Direction’s Harry Styles will release his eponymous debut album May 12th. The news followed the arrival of Styles’ first single, “Sign of the Times,” which came out in early April.
Harry Styles will contain ten tracks, and the album was executive-produced by Jeff Bhasker, a versatile, formidable songwriter who took home the Producer of the Year Grammy Award in 2016. Alex Salibian and Tyler Johnson, who have both worked with Bhasker, also contribute production, as does Kid Harpoon, an English writer with credits on Florence and the Machine’s How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful and Shakira’s Shakira.
Harry Styles will be released in multiple formats to please multiple types of Styles’ fans. A white vinyl version of the album will be available for purchase through the singer’s website while supplies last, while a limited edition CD comes with a 32-page book of exclusive photos documenting Styles’ recording process. Pre-order for all formats is available starting tomorrow.

Styles became the fourth member of One Direction to put out music on his own when he released “Sign of the Times” last week. On Saturday, he will perform his single on Saturday Night Live, marking his solo television debut.”

SNL Promo Video

As Teen Vogue says:

"If Harry Styles did not have your heart already — and like, if so, who even are you?! — get ready for him to steal it away. His new TV spots for his solo performances on Saturday Night Live are that charming."

"The premise for each of the three spots is simple: Harry and the show’s host for the evening, Jimmy Fallon, take on some variation of walking towards the camera as they announce their upcoming show. In the first, they try to outshine each other by blocking their view to the camera. In the other two, they attempt a smooth jazz walk, complete with a retro finger-snapping."

"Harry can’t contain his laughter during the process of filming the last clip — which is fair, because we assume filming anything on the SNL stage is enough to give someone a case of the giggles. Still, that laughter only adds to the fact that Harry Styles is probably* the most delightful human being on this planet."

"In past episodes of SNL, Harry has joined in on sketches with his former One Direction bandmates, so it’s safe to say that he might take a turn in the scenes, too. There’s no word yet as to the second song he’ll sing in addition to “Sign of the Times,” but you won’t have to wait to find out if you don’t live on the east coast: SNL is broadcasting live to all time zones on Saturday."

Harry is going to perform "Sign of the Times" on SNL. Here is an interesting passage about the song:
"Lyrically, it’s about loss — it seems to be about two people who love each other despite an impossible situation. “Will we ever learn, we’ve been here before, it’s just what we know,” Styles croons, revisiting the themes of “Something Great,” one of his most notable writing credits with One Direction, and one of the band’s rawest tunes. This almost sounds like a continuation of the story of that same relationship. Styles has called the track deeply personal, and out of a catalogue of 70 songs, it’s currently the work he’s the most proud of. It’s a classic heart-on-sleeve performance, and naturally, everyone will want to know who it’s about. That’s if you take his “running from the bullets” chorus as a metaphor about fame, of course.” (Hypable)

Harry's Tweet

Early this morning, Harry Styles surprised fans when he tweeted snapshots of Louis Tomlinson, captioned "then and now." The side-by-side images showed his One Direction bandmate sipping iced beverages in pictures taken years apart.

Some fans believe that Harry's account was hacked. Others think he posted the photos accidentally.
So, what actually happened?
Harry tweeted. He quoted a cute Louis “then and now” tweet and attached a broken link to it.
Then fandom went into a collective meltdown.
Louis came online and followed Lorde, who had just been on SNL and performed a song called “Green Light”
The tweet was online for 30 mins and then someone acquired that broken link and linked it to a Larry porn account.
The tweet was deleted 7 or so mins after that.
The tweet stayed for more than 40 mins on Harry’s account, so it is impossible that his team didn’t notice it for so long.
The Sun: "Many fans took screenshots to commemorate the tweet and see it as evidence that Harry thinks about “Larry” more than he claims to."

Louis in LA and Harry in NY

Louis Tomlinson and his girlfriend Eleanor Calder have been spotted shopping in Los Angeles, both donning all black outfits and pristine white trainers.

The pair grabbed some iced coffees around Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood.

Louis is still waiting for the court date. He needs to see if he faces charges over an airport altercation from last month. A spokesman for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office said: "A filing decision will not be made today. Our prosecutors are still reviewing the case."

Is Louis going to drop off the map for a while after being papped ?   ;)

In the meantime, Harry Styles was spotted landing in New York on Monday evening to begin his week of preparation for SNL. It will be his first solo performance ever, during which he will sing 2 songs live on the show.

Harry was accompanied by Jeff Azoff . He was surrounded by cops and security guards as he arrived in NYC from London.

Harry wore a black T-shirt with a yellow sweater wrapped around his shoulders. He carried two duffle bags as he followed the police officers to his SUV.  (Splash News)

Rumour has it that Harry was "high up on Disney lists" for Han Solo's Star Wars spin-off.
"Even though he had virtually no acting experience, they saw he had huge star potential and would give the project enormous publicity." The source revealed that Harry spoke to Disney but that plans for his music career would have made it "almost impossible to lock him down for the job."

UPDATE!
Louis Tomlinson will NOT be charged with crime in airport paparazzi fight.

Harry Styles has taken part in the rehearsal for SNL today.

Sign of the Times

Harry's song "Sign of the Times" was released yesterday and it immediately went to #1 on iTunes. Harry broke Adele's record for the fastest song to reach #1. Adele needed 50 minutes, whereas Harry's song took 19 minutes!

Harry has given a number of radio interviews. However, no one has asked what the song is about. The most obvious question. Is the question blacklisted by Harry?

Harry on 7th April

Harry talking about making the album:
"It’s always a bit weird going into a writing session with people you don’t know trying to write honest lyrics and stuff. And I think I found this group of guys where I felt really comfortable in terms of being vulnerable and just writing exactly what it was that I wanted to say. And I think when you find that environment that’s kind of comfortable to write like that, you just want to stay in that. So I kind of went out with these guys who were all pretty young, and we all just wanted to write stuff that we liked. I think that’s why we’ve kind of ended up with an album we’re really happy with, so I hope that comes across."
Harry talking about filming the music video for "Sign of the Times":
"Honestly, I don’t know and I don’t really know how to explain it ‘cause I’m struggling to remember why I agreed to do it. But, yeah,  it was really intense.    I was very high. Uh, I couldn’t wait to get down in all of those pictures."

Harry on telling his family about "Dunkirk":
"When I first told my mum, my stepdad said: “Who are you playing? Are you like waving off the soldiers?"

Harry about One Direction:
"I don’t think any of us would rule anything out in the future [to a One Direction reunion] We’re just all writing and putting out what we want."
"It’s amazing to watch your friends put music out and do so well. And everyone so far has done so well, so to kinda join them that’d be amazing."
"I keep in touch and we all see each other. It’s great, everyone’s having fun doing their own thing."

Harry's interview with Nick Grimshaw

The interview will air on 7th April, but some excerpts from it have appeared today.

Harry about his debut album:
"I think if you put out something that you don't stand behind and really love... then if it doesn't go well then you could regret not doing what you wanted to do. Whereas if nothing happens with it, I love it you know so I think that's what you should do."
"In the least weird way possible, it's my favourite album to listen to at the moment... I hope we did a good job but I really like the album so I hope people like it."

"I started the album end of Feb last year for three weeks and had to stop for five months when I went to do a movie. I came back to it in July and finished writing it in December."

Harry on taking a break for "Dunkirk":
"For a while before, all I thought about it was stressing about what it was going to be. It gave me a chance to completely step away from it for a bit and have a real break. By the end of the movie, because we were swimming so much, I just wanted to write songs."
" I think we wrote about 70 songs. We did 50 songs and ideas in Jamaica and that's including like little ideas... full songs, I say there are 30 songs probably."

Harry talking about "Sign of the Times":
"It's a bit weird, I feel like I've been hibernating for so long now and you hear it in the safety of the studio and now it's time to give birth... it's the song I'm most proud of writing."

Styles said his debut went down well in the Styles' household - but that his step-father confused his voice for a duck. He said: "I played the album to them the first time and there's one song that's got a vocal effect on it, the whole album finished then my stepdad said: "I've one question, where did you get the duck from, how did you get a duck in the studio?" I was like: "That was me, thanks." My Mum liked it, which was handy."

Harry talking about musical influences:
"I had a good range between my mum and dad... my dad listened to Fleetwood, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and Queen. My mum was like Norah Jones and Savage Garden. There are a lot of melodies there."

Harry on staying grounded:
"It's easier in the way that I like to separate stuff from working and being at home with family and stuff. When you separate it, it's easier to see it for what it is. When you let it become everything and that's your whole life, then it's easy to get a bit lost in it. I'm lucky, I have amazing friends and my family's amazing so I think they make it easier to keep the separation between the two, which makes it easier for me."

Harry on cutting his trademark hair:
"I felt naked for a while. I was like yeah, I've gotta shave my hair off. It wasn't a hard decision, it got made into a wig."

Harry on dating:
"I haven't dated in a long time really because I went away to do the movie, then did the album so I haven't in a while. I have a couple of candles left still though."

Gucci

Harry loves Chris Martin:
‘He’s lovely isn’t he? He is good at telling you to take care of yourself. I think he makes sure you are alright and is very zen. I think he is a pretty wonderful man.’

 He also loves Ronnie Wood:
‘Big fan, I love Ronnie Wood – I think I met him at a dinner party a few years ago and went to a couple of Stones shows…I think he is the nicest.’

Ed Sheeran advised him with his debut album:
‘I played him a few songs after the album was finished. I didn’t see him for a bit because I was away. He didn’t say that he didn’t like any but he did like one song that isn’t on the album. So I did have a bit of a minute of like hmmm no but…’

Harry Styles' latest food shopping:
"I went two days ago. I got some spinach, eggs, OJ, milk, turkey and some brussels sprouts. Hmm what else did I buy...oh some Creme Eggs."

Harry: If I Could Flyyyy...

The anticipation is building as more information about Harry's song "Sign of the Time" appears in the media.
Today, Nick Grimshaw talked to Scott Mills about his pre-recorded interview with Harry for Radio One, which will air on Friday.

"We had a massive chat. Sat down for like two and a half, three hours or something. It was really, really long, but it was really good. There was a lot to talk about. There was talking about how it is now being a solo artist. How it was writing the record. How you even start to write a solo record. Where he wrote it. He spoke all about making the album, and basically having to become a solo artist and that pressure of knowing that the world are gonna want to hear this and are going want to judge it as well. But we played it in the room, and it’s so good. It’s really, really good. And it’s much - no offense - it’s much better than I thought it was gonna be."

The day when Nick heard "Sign of the Times" for the first time:
"I was like ‘Wow! This [song] is really good’. And Harry was like ‘Yeah, don’t be so surprised!’ He came round and played it to me, and we were sort of avoiding it all day. So we went for breakfast, and then I was like ‘I gotta hear this song at some point’. And there was dread in my brain because I thought ‘What if it’s bad? What if I don’t like it? Cause I’m really bad at lying.’ And it sort of went on all day. And then eventually at about 4 o'clock I was like ‘Alright. Come on. Let’s do it.’ And I heard it and it was great. But there was a moment when I thought ‘How am I gonna get out of this car if this is bad?’ But it wasn’t. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it."
Matt Edmondson on Harry's Radio One interview:
"I think they kind of smuggled Harry into the building via a back entrance. I think the only reason some people knew he was here was because he went to the toilet and just casually walked through the Radio 1 office."
In the evening, The Sun posted exclusive footage of Harry shooting a video for his debut solo song. We can see him dangling in mid-air above remote farmland shoreline somewhere in Scotland.

The songs on his solo album are believed to be very personal and based on his life. According to the tabloid, Harry has been also playing the guitar and the piano.

Harry is doing only four or five interviews around the world. He doesn't want to discuss his personal life or One Direction. He wants to let the music do the talking.
Looks like the Little Prince
