In Belfast, Dublin and New York people celebrate with parades. In Chicago they dye the Chicago river green for the day. The London St Patrick's Parade was on Sunday, March 13.
Niall Horan, one of the best-known Irishmen, tweeted:
- Paddy is a diminutive form of Patrick.
- Leprechaun is a type of fairy in Irish folklore. They are solitary creatures who spend their time making and mending shoes and have a hidden pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
